Grace Wall-Traylor

Hi, I’m Grace. I’m a Production Design MFA student who loves carpentry and fabrication. I have work experience in a scenic shop, design and fabrication experience from major SCAD theatrical productions, and a background as a high school teacher. But my artistic journey started a long time ago.
I grew up on a ranch in Texas. When I wasn’t painting or drawing inside, I was following my dad around from pasture to pasture. In high school, I started stealing his tools for various art projects and sculpture work.

I love designing new worlds and creating things with my hands. This led me to pursue the arts in college: I earned my undergraduate degree at Baylor University, where I majored in Film & Digital Media and minored in Creative Writing. I graduated from Baylor in May 2020, right as the pandemic roared up.

Fortunately, my backup plan had always been to be an English teacher. I taught AP English III and Pre-AP English II for several years at Jacksonville High School in my home state of Texas. I loved it. Teaching was fulfilling and changed me forever (for the
better), but something was still missing from my life. I still wanted to design worlds and build them myself.

I accepted that teaching would always be an option later. I decided to pursue graduate school in my field, expand my knowledge of production design, and pursue a career in fabrication.

I will graduate from the Savannah College of Art and Design in May 2026 with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Production Design. While at SCAD, I’ve been employed as a work-study in the Savannah Film Studios Scenic Shop, where I’ve constructed sets
and fabricated props for multiple student and university productions. I also served as a production fabricator on SCAD’s 2025 spring musical, and, most recently, as Props
Master for SCAD’s 2026 spring play, Peter Pan Goes Wrong.
